MIRAGE SUN IN BLUE AND PINK

Part of my ongoing Mirage series, this painting moves away from the distant horizon and focuses instead on a radiant, circular form that seems to pulse with light and energy. Built from countless drips, splatters, and sweeping marks, the composition draws the viewer inward, creating the impression of a glowing sun or mirage suspended against a deep blue sky.

Layers of vibrant blues, pinks, violets, and warm oranges spiral around a luminous centre, their colours blending and colliding to create a sense of movement and atmosphere. The heavily textured surface records the painting process itself, with each line and splash contributing to the work’s dynamic energy.

As with the other paintings in the Mirage series, the work is inspired by the Australian landscape and the way heat and light can distort our perception. Here, however, the familiar horizon dissolves into a more immersive and celestial experience—an abstract meditation on colour, light, and the shifting beauty of a mirage.
