MIRAGE
While much contemporary painting is created with a strong awareness of interior settings and immediate visual harmony, I take a slower approach. The Mirage series is not concerned with responding to trends or producing instant statements. Instead, I focus on atmosphere, duration, and emotional resonance over time.
Although I use bold, saturated colour, my intention is not spectacle. Colour allows me to strike a careful balance—so the work can initially function as a statement within a space, before gradually settling into a quieter, more contemplative presence. These are paintings made to be lived with, where meaning unfolds through repeated viewing, changing light, and sustained attention.
In a culture of constant visual noise, I see the Mirage paintings as a pause—an experience that is both vivid and soothing, strong yet restrained.
